Willie Dukes

October 29, 1941 — January 16, 2019

Age 77, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, with his loving wife Bonnie at his side. Willie was born in Kingstree SC, a son of the late William and Lizzy Mack Dukes. He was also predeceased by siblings, Wesley, Harry, Ethel and Maggie. Willie is survived by his wife and soulmate of 49 years, Bonnie Bailey Dukes. He is also survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Lance Halpern of California, Tammie and Otis Tanks of Atlanta GA, Tanya Daniels of Rochester NY, Tracy and Jonathan Goodson of Atlanta GA; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, William (Bert) Dukes of Washington DC, Jessie Dukes of Rochester NY; special niece Maggie (J.B.) Nesmith; special nephews, Arthur (Charlotte) Dukes and Leon Dukes; several other nieces and nephews. Willie enjoyed dancing and was an avid New York Yankee fan. He was a very sociable person and was very often the life of the party. If you were fortunate to have met Willie you would never forget him. Most importantly Willie loved and cherished his family. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 4:00 p.m.to 6:00 p.m. A short period of sharing memories of Willie will take place at the end of calling hours.
