Wayne L. "Bud" Chapman, Jr., 75, of Elmira, passed away on August 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving friends and family.

He was born in Johnson City, NY on September 20, 1950 to the late Wayne L. Sr. and Patricia (Ellis) Chapman.

Bud was a graduate of Johnson City High School where he played football. Bud was a delivery driver for many years for Felix Roma Bakery in Endicott. He was also an oil burner technician in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing and was the quintessential outdoorsman. He enjoyed woodworking and was known as a craftsman. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Above all, he was a devoted and loving father and Poppy. He was involved in every aspect of his grandchildren's lives from sporting events to functions. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his daughter, Erika Chapman; his brothers, Ralph and Gary Chapman and his best friend, Timmy McMahon.

Bud is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Surles (Red); grandchildren, Dominique, Jaziya, Hailey, Gabrielle, Alexis, Jaydan, Heaven and Sophia; great-grandchildren, Dior and Xamera; brother, Russell (Bridgette) Chapman; sisters, Cheryl (late Chuck) Gilmer and Patty (Michael) Washburn; his nieces, nephews and many friends including his closest friend, Montana McMahon and his family.

Per his request there will be no services. A celebration of Bud's life will be announced at a later time.
