Formerly of Elmira, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville NY. Walt was born and raised in Elmira the son of William M. and Margaret (Grady) Supple. He is predeceased by his sister Frances L. Murtaugh and brothers, Thomas, William, Edward and James. Walt is survived by sister-in-law Rose Liddy Supple; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews; and several cousins. Walt was retired from the Chemung County Highway Department. He was a charter member, and former vice-president, of the Msgr. John J. Lee Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, a life member of the B.P.O.E. #62, and a member of the NYS CSEA Retiree Program, Retiree Chapter 1000. Walt was a long time communicant of St. Patrick's Church. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., St. Patrick's Church. Interment, with committal prayers, will then take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Walt's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of the Iroquois Nursing Home, with special appreciation to the 3rd floor caregivers, for their kindness and special attention to Walt's needs over the past 3 years.
