Timothy Sweeney

July 18, 1939 — July 24, 2018

DOB: 7-18-39 - DOD: 7-24-18 Survived by: Siblings: Sisters - Michaeline Sweeney of Arlington, VA; Kathleen Sweeney of Syracuse, NY; Brothers - Martin Sweeney of Parish, FL; Paul (Maureen) Sweeney of Elmira; Sister-in-law, Bonnie Sweeney of Seneca Lake, NY; paternal Aunt, Firmina Jung Wilkins; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Deceased by: Parents: Clarence Michael and Madeline Meade Sweeney; Brother - Dennis Sweeney. Tim was a 1957 graduate of Southside High School. He obtained a certification in X-Ray Technology from St. Joseph's Hospital. He then served in the United States Army. Upon his discharge he worked several jobs in the medical field. Tim was a servant to the State of NY until his early retirement in 1994. He was a caretaker to his father and mother until their deaths in 1987 and 2008, respectively. He worked at the Falck Cancer Center where he met and developed endearing friendships with Pat, Patty and Mary. He then became a driver for Woodbrook and subsequently an in-home aide for the elderly and the infirmed up until early 2018. His passion were his pugs, Maddy and Minnie. Those were his children and they were loved. He had a great passion for music and gossip. There was never a story untold or a laugh not shared when it came to Timothy. He had a sense of style and fairness as unique as his personality. He loved his family and friends with the fierceness of a lion protecting his pride. He was a humble man that desired no fanfare as he shed this mortal coil. He exited as he entered leaving only footprints on our hearts. A great void in our family now remains, but we are blessed with the memory of his lightening quick wit and thousand-watt smile. Until we meet again, the Parting Glass is as full as our hearts. Love you, brother. Our family invites you to join us in a celebration of Tim’s life on Saturday, August 25, 2018, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. at Judy’s House, 510 W. Gray Street, Elmira, NY.
