Thomas M. Brann "Tom" Elmira: Age 52 of Beecher St., died at home on Saturday, January 1, 2011 after a very brief and unexpected illness. Tom was born in Elmira on April 25, 1958, son of the late Charles "Chuck" F. Brann who passed away on September 24, 1994 and Mary I. (O'Connor) Brann who passed away on May 4, 2010. He is survived by his sister Carol M. Brann of Elmira and several cousins. Tom was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Elmira and St. Bonaventure University, Olean NY. He had worked as an internal auditor for Arnot Ogden Medical Center for a number of years before going to work with New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. He was a tax auditor with the state for 16 years and worked out of the Binghamton office. While working with the state, Tom had been active with his union and for the past several years was a union representative. He had been a life long communicant of St. Patrick's Church. Tom had been a long time member of the Elmira Elks Lodge #62. He was an avid sports fan with baseball being his favorite sport. Tom enjoyed his trips to Yankee Stadium and his visits to the Elks or The Old Pioneer to watch and talk sports. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Streets, on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Carol would like to extend a special thanks to Stacy, Aggie and Lisa from Southern Tier Hospice for the loving care given to Tom these last several days. The B.P.O.E. #62 will conduct a memorial service for our late brother, Thomas M. Brann, on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at McInerny Funeral Home. Signed, Lou Schmeiske Exalted Ruler
