Theresa Forrest Nickens Elmira: Age 86, passed away peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Sunday, September 4, 2011, with her loving family by her side. Theresa was born in Mt. Morris NY on October 11, 1924 a daughter of the late Harry, Sr. and Caroline Bass Forrest. She is predeceased by son Clinton "Billy" Nickens Jr.; brothers, Harry, Jr. and John Forrest; sister Edna Catley; niece Gwendolyn Nelson, nephews, Gary Swan and Benjamin Catley; son-in-law Donald Gilmore. Theresa is survived by daughters, Carol Ann Gilmore, Jacqueline Cartwright, Brenda Freeman, Patricia Ann Freeman, Pauline Freeman; son James Mosley all of Elmira; sister, Aletta Kiplinger of Youngstown OH; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Dr. Sibert Douglas of Rochester NY; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins; special friends Lisa Learn and James Barber. Theresa had retired from Elmira College and then went to work at Weis Markets until the age of 81. She was an avid bingo player and would play where ever she could find a game. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Theresa's life will follow at 7:15 p.m. Committal prayers and interment will take place on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Mt. Morris Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the 4D staff at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Dr. Dauphin, and the Falck Cancer Center staff for the wonderful care provided to Theresa over the last several months.
