Theresa M. Hourihan Elmira: Age 84 passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Theresa was born in Elmira NY on February 22, 1927, a daughter of Patrick J. and Mary Troy Hourihan. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by brothers, Joseph Hourihan and John Hourihan, Sr., sisters, Agnes Hourihan, Mary Dillon, and Jane Broshart. Theresa is survived by her brother Rev. Raymond Hourihan of Elmira; sister Helen Hourihan of Elmira; brother-in-law, Charles Broshart of Ballston Spa NY; sister-in-law Patricia Hourihan of Pine City; special cousin Marie Powers of Elmira; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Theresa was retired from Purolator Products in Elmira Heights. She was a life long active communicant of St. Mary's Church. Theresa was a charter member and past president of the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, a member of St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, and the Ladies of Charity. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Streets, on Monday, September 5, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Donations in Theresa's memory may be directed to the Dominican Monastery, 1310 W. Church St., Elmira 14905, St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St., Elmira NY 14904 or the Ladies of Charity, c/o Catholic Charities, 215 E. Church Street, Elmira NY 14901. Officers and members of the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians will meet at the funeral home on Monday, at 7:00 p.m., to conduct a service for our sister Theresa, Signed Mary Ellen Allington, President.
