Suzanne Splann

Elmira: Age 60, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015. Sue was born August 18, 1954 in Poughkeepsie NY, a daughter of Marian Aseline Riley and the late Lawrence J. Riley. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 37 years Henry F. Splann of Emlira; children, Sheila M. Splann of Charlotte NC, Henry F. Splann IV of Los Angeles CA, and John L. Splann of Elmira; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and LLoydena Riley of Elmira, Lawrence and Mae Riley of Big Flats, Patrick and Patricia Riley of Kingston WA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Shawn Smith of Campbell NY, Catherine and Peter Knowles of Elmira; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elaine Allison of Horseheads, Martin and Lorraine Splann of New Hartford NY, Carol and John Brand of Katy TX; along with several nieces nephews and cousins. Sue was a 1973 graduate of EFA, continuing her education at Corning Community College where she earned a degree in Registered Nursing. Her nursing career would take her to various local organizations, including St. Joseph's Hospital, Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Bethany Manor and Able 2. Sue truly loved nursing. She was born to it. That love was demonstrated by the compassionate and competent care she gave to each individual she had the privilege to care for. Sue was a long time communicant of St. Mary's Church. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Private interment will take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
