Shirley Maguire

Age 94 of Elmira, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Shirley was born in Painted Post NY, daughter of the late Myron and Florence Balcom Eddy. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, James J. Maguire in 2012 and her brother Wayne Eddy. Shirley is survived by her two sons and their families: Timothy J. and Kathleen Maguire of West Dennis MA and their son Daniel (Kara) ….. Michael P. and Mary Lynn Maguire of Severna Park MD with their children, Kerry Ann (Anthony) Ezersky, Michael (fiancée Sarah) and Sean; great grandchildren, Keegan, Harper and Kinsley Ezersky, Kylie, Michael P. III and Quinn Maguire, Cade and Bowen Maguire; sister Lucy Griswold of Canastota NY; sister-in-law Florence Eddy of Dorris CA. Shirley was a graduate of the Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing. She had a career as a registered nurse having worked in South Bend IN, at Corning Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital and retired from the office of Dr. Thomas Atkins. Shirley was always a very active person and for many years had enjoyed bowling, golf and bridge club. After retiring she volunteered for St. Joseph's Hospital blood pressure clinics. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Elmira, on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning NY. In lieu of flowers those wishing may remember Shirley with a donation to the Monastery of Mary the Queen, Attn: Sister Emma Marie Pierre, 1237 W. Monroe Street, Springfield IL 62704, formerly the Dominican nuns of Elmira.
