It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sherwood E. O'Dell Jr., who left us peacefully on May 6, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on April 15, 1952, in Elmira, NY to the late Sherwood O'Dell Sr. and Patricia O'Dell, Woody was a lifelong resident of the area, known for his friendly demeanor and dedicated work ethic.
Woody was a proud Army veteran, having served from January 28, 1972, to January 20, 1975, where he attained the rank of Specialist, and was awarded the National Defense Medal. After his military service, he transitioned into a career in the food service industry, working as a forklift driver for Flickinger's Inc., where he became a familiar face and a cherished colleague.
Sherwood is survived by his brother, Steven (Dena) O'Dell; niece Laura (Sean) Kane; nephews Philip (Megan) O'Dell, and Christopher O'Dell who will remember him fondly. He built lasting memories with his family and friends, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
