Sharon T. Reed

Of Big Flats, NY, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021, peacefully at home with her family by her side. Sharon was born on September 13, 1943 in Elmira, NY, a daughter of the late Eugene and Phyllis Coughlin Thompson. She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Jean Teliska and infant granddaughter, Megan Christine Reed. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 56 years, Howard C. Reed, children, Mike and Susan Reed of Victor, NY, Linda and Mark Wasser of Endicott, NY, Jim and Theresa Reed of Skaneateles, NY, Dennis and Stacy Reed of Clinton, CT; grandchildren, David, Lauren, Jake, Allison, Tommy, Krystin, Sam, Katie, Jenna, Matt and Addy; sister, Mary Jo Stemple of Charleston, SC; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sharon, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. She touched the lives of so many throughout her life. She cherished her time with her family and often said "Family is Everything." In addition to raising 4 children she received her Master's Degree from Elmira College, in Elementary Education and taught in the Elmira School District for 23 years. In her retirement she enjoyed quilting, spending time with her husband, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events, plays and their many other activities. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Sharon on Thursday, July 29, 2021, 10:00 a.m., St. Patrick's Church, 204 Park Place, A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic).
