Sharon Lea Oakes

Age 75, of Elmira, NY passed away, peacefully, surrounded by her family on 14 October 2023. Sharon was predeceased by her parents George and Grace Davis, and husband of 52 years, Milton G. Oakes Jr. She is survived by her children, Jason (Theresa) Oakes, Jennifer (Tom) Ruocco and Jeremy (Robin) Oakes; sister Mary (Rick) Danko; grandchildren, Alicia (JD) Barton, Lynsay and Justin Ruocco, Kristen and Jared Oakes, Michaela Rose, Jacob and Ryan Oakes; along with several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Sharon was a woman of faith which led her to do missionary work in Jamaica, where she loved her time helping at the Robin’s Nest Children’s Home. Sharon enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W Water Street, Elmira, on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 6:15 p.m. Interment will take place on Monday, October 23, 2023, 3:00 p.m. at Woodlawn National Cemetery.
