Ruth Conklin

Ruth Grady Conklin Age 96, died peacefully in her sleep at the Hospice By The Sea in Delray Beach, FL, on Monday March 10, 2014. She was born in Elmira, New York, daughter of Rachel and Thomas Grady. She was predeceased by her husband John M. Conklin after 56 years of loving marriage. She met him at 9 years of age in Rorick's Glen in Elmira, NY. She was also predeceased by her sisters Kathryn Collins, Mildred (Rosie) Grady, and brother Thomas Grady. She is survived by her brother Charles Grady, her children Kathleen and Howard Rockoff, Maureen and Andrew Zadany, and John and Terese (Ruocco) Conklin. Her beloved grandchildren are Michelle Burke, Heather Conklin, Patrick Conklin, Andrew Zadany, Makenzie Conklin, her great grandchildren Jacob, Noah, Lindsay, Elijah Rockoff, and many nieces and nephews. Valerie Williams was her loving caretaker who wishes her peace and to keep smiling in Heaven. Ruth graduated from Southside High School, was a Certified Professional Secretary, and was the President of her chapter. She retired from Facet (Bendix) in 1983. She was active in the local Catholic Church community, the Girl Scouts, and the Cub Scouts. She was a dedicated and loving mother and wife. She loved dancing, singing, golfing, contributing to charitable organizations, and all things Irish. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
