Ronald G. "Ron" Klossner, 89, of Elmira, entered into rest suddenly on June 3, 2026.

He was born on April 9, 1937 in Utica, NY, the son of the late John J. and Agnes (Ostrouch) Klossner.

Ron retired from Elmira Correctional Facility as a corrections officer. Following his retirement from The Hill, he worked for 17 years for Brinks Security.

In his spare time, Ron was a collector his entire life, whether it was military collecting or antiquing. He enjoyed traveling and learning the history of the places that he visited. Everyone enjoyed his wit and humor. Ron was very artistic and enjoyed painting and reverse glass painting. He was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was known for his independence, restoration skills and love for his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, June Fagnoli; a brother, John Klossner, Jr.; daughter-in-law Linnea Klossner and daughter, Samantha Poyneer.

Ron is survived by his life partner, Judith "Judy" Poyneer; sons, Jeffrey Klossner (Devon), Michael Klossner (Amy), Matthew Klossner (Babs Patchen) and Jonathan Poyneer; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Taylor, Madison, Jaxson, Casey, Jacob and Oscar, Josey, Andrea and Christian; great-grandchildren, Aurora, Avery, Thea, Alaurali, Landynn and Madelynn; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his furry companions, Ala and Little One.

Relatives and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira on Saturday, June 20 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later time at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
