Roger Mckamey

February 12, 1936 — June 3, 2015

age 79, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at his home in Himrod, NY. Roger was born in Bald Knob, AR and moved to Michigan as a teen. He lived there until 1966 when he moved to Elmira, NY to start a new job. He worked for both Tanner Building Company and Streeter Associates before he decided to start his own business in 1976. At the helm of Ridgeline Constructors he had many projects he was proud of in Chemung County…. Mandeville Hall, Coca Cola, Horseheads Post Office and the First Presbyterian Church Great Room, to name a few. Roger is predeceased by his parents Murrel and Grace McKamey, sister Mary McKamey Pratt and brother Herbert McKamey. He served on boards for UCP and Clemens Center, and was President of Jaycees at one point. He was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and very active for many years in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. He became involved in the Himrod Fire Department as a fire fighter, served as a Certified First Responder, and was Treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Town of Milo ZBA for two terms. Roger is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joyce; eight children, Bryan (Aimee) McKamey, MN, Beverly McKamey, MI, Scott McKamey (Sandy), MI, Bruce McKamey, MI, Kim (David) Ruskauff, NY, Deanna Tewksbury, NH, Jennifer (Skeet) West, NY and Jonathan (Stephanie) McKamey, PA; 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. At Roger's request there will be no services. Donations can be made to the Himrod Fire Department, 3530 Himrod Road, Himrod, NY 14842, First Presbyterian Church, 1054 W. Clinton Street, Elmira, NY 14905 or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by McInerny Funeral Home.
