Age 87, passed away peacefully at Elderwood at Waverly on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Bob was born in Elmira, a son of John and Margaret Gates Semski. He was predeceased by his loving wife Shirley Chadwick Semski; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Joyce Semski, Donald and Annabelle Semski, Edwin and Vera Semski; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Helene Taylor, Audrey Brown, Bob Novick, Billy and Jack Donovan. Bob is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Evelyn Semski of Elmira with daughters, Shannon Semski, Michelle (Robert) Kemmer and Sarah Semski …. Michael and Debbie Semski of Elmira with children, Bryan (Michelle) Semski and Andrea Semski (James Helman) …. Scott and LuAnn Semski of Elmira with sons Dylan and Nathan Semski; great grandchildren Hailey, Aubriella and Bentley Greene, Juliette, Leona and Emmett Semski; sister MaryAnn Novick of Elmira Heights; several nieces and nephews.
Bob retired as a Master Sergeant from the US Army Reserves. He worked for 28 plus years with New York State Corrections, retiring as a Corrections Lieutenant from the Southport Correctional Facility. Bob enjoyed many summers spent at the family cottage on Seneca Lake. He was a longtime member of the Grand Lodge of the Free and Accepted Mason of the State of New York, Elmira Chapter 95.
Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Committal prayers and interment, with military honors, will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Bob with a charity of one's choice.
