Age 91 of Elmira, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Bob was born and raised in Elmira a son of Stanley A. and Monica (Mitchell) Novick. He is predeceased by his sisters, Florence Novick and Irene Hesslebarth and brother, Raymond Novick. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, MaryAnn Semski Novick; children, and their families, Allan R. Novick of Mississippi, with children, Yvonne Gatti, Charity (Mark) Seibert, and Heather Novick; Gary A. Novick and wife Deborah of Elmira, with children, Melody (Charles) Blake, Kimberly (Michael) Villie and Adam (Christie) Novick; John T. Novick and wife Carol of Elmira Heights, with children, Lynette (Patrick Larabee) DeMuth, Margaret (Chris) Novick-Osiecki, Rachel (Joel) Baumgardner, and Kathryn (Joseph Cummings) Bailey; Robert J. Novick of Apalachin NY; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law Robert Semski of Elmira; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He worked as a union painter for many years before going out on his own for several more years. Bob later went to work in antique purchase and sales with his wife at Mary Ann's Antiques located in Elmira Heights. An avid musician, Bob was a professional drummer who played with numerous musicians in the Elmira area for many years. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 8:45 a.m., followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Casimir's Church. Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will then take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
