Robert Mccarthy

Age 82, passed away peacefully at Elcor Health Services on Thursday, August 3, 2017. Bob was born and raised in Elmira, a son of Thomas J. and Jennie Newell McCarthy. In addition to his parents Bob was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Martin F. and Loretta McCarthy. He is survived by his sister Rose E. McCarthy of Elmira; niece Elizabeth A. McCarthy with Steven Crum of Horseheads and their children, Aidan, Teagan and Mallory Crum. Bob was a U S Air Force veteran. After leaving the military Bob went to school in Cincinnati OH for training in the radio and TV field. He then moved to the Washington D.C .area where he worked in the radio and TV business for many years. Bob returned to Elmira after his working career had ended. He enjoyed watching football and baseball games. There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church in Elmira on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery.
