Age 69, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his bedside after a short battle with cancer. Bob was born in Elmira, the son of the late Francis and Sallie (Belman) Blaine. He is survived by his wife Marylou Marino Blaine; children with their families, Samantha M. Blaine with Thomas Brown of Breesport and their children, Mason and Madison Brown …. Amanda C. Blaine with Brian Batrowny of Horseheads …. Robert P. "Bobby" Blaine Jr. of Elmira with wife Amy and their children, Landyn, Laelynn and Tegan; stepdaughter Jennifer Simpson with husband Charles of Elmira and their children and grandchildren; along with many special friends.
Bob was a 1971 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. He served as a police officer for the Elmira Police Department, retiring in 2006. Bob was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams are the Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Twins, Boston Celtics and he was an old time NASCAR fan, with Jeff Gordon being his favorite driver. Bob enjoyed many hobbies including golfing, softball, and fishing. But most importantly, he loved his family and his time spent time with them. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 6:15 p.m. Those wishing may remember Bob with a donation to a local charity of one's choice.
