Age 63, passed away peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Ritchie was born in Elmira, son of Joseph Palmieri of Elmira and the late Margaret “Peggy” Kelly Palmieri. In addition to his father, Ritchie is survived by sisters, Janette A. “Jan” Palmieri of Elmira and Jacqueline M. “Jackie” Palmieri Koerner with husband Timothy of Pine City NY; nieces and nephews, Joseph (Mackenzie) Dunn, Amanda (Frank) Guerrero and Alexis (Matt) Sabul; great-nieces and great-nephews Maci L. Dunn, Emma Leah K., Frank K., Tychicus K., Timotheus “Zechariah” and Bethany Guerrero; aunt Barbara Palmieri of Horseheads; several cousins.
Ritchie was an avid NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills and NASCAR fan. One of his greatest joys was attending the hockey games at First Arena where he had season tickets for many years. In earlier years Ritchie enjoyed bowling.
Family and friends are invited to call at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W Water Street, Elmira, on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery.
