Elmira: On December 21, 2022 we lost a seemingly indestructible man with a contagious smile and a heart of gold. Rich was a kind, generous, hardworking, fun-loving individual who enjoyed life, to the best of his ability, every single day. He loved swimming, football, golf, baseball, but most of all his family and friends. Rich spent a short time in the Navy, worked for 20+ years between Keystone Bindery and Elmira Litho, and, of course, was looking forward to retiring from his current position as a NYS Correction Officer, Elmira Facility, within the next couple of years.
Those who predeceased Rich are his mother Mary Louise (Palmieri) Mowry, sister Theresa Mowry-Waters, maternal and paternal grandparents. Rich is survived by his father Richard K. Mowry, Sr.; wife Christine; son Randy; step-children: Jamie (Jen) Tostanoski, Dakota (Katie) Tostanoski, Nick (Lizzy) Tostanoski; brother Joseph (Paula) Mowry; sisters, Laura (Andy) Lagonegro, Marion (Sandra) Mowry; grandchildren, Mason, Laila, Lydia, Ayva, Ally, Ben, Beckem, Odin and Emma Grace; as well as countless other family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Rich's Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will then take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may remember Rich with a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
