Richard A. Merchant

Age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in Elmira. Rick was born and raised in Waterloo NY, a son of the late Robert S. and Glenora Pike Merchant. He was also predeceased by infant son Andrew Merchant and brothers, David and Bradley Merchant. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Nancy Hawkins Merchant; son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Melissa Merchant of Westerly RI with their children, Jack and Isla; sisters, Carol Woodcock (fiancé Tim Tuttle) of Rensselaer Falls NY and Nancy DePasquale (Dave) of Hamburg NY; mother-in-law Frances Hawkins of Hamburg NY; sisters-in-law, Debbie Davis (Jim) of Danbury CT and Linda Cornwall of Rochester NY; along with several nieces and nephews.

Rick had worked at Sears for many years before taking a job with Tractor Supply. He retired as store manager at the Tractor Supply store in Horseheads NY. Rick enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Los Angeles Rams football fan.

As per Rick’s request there will be no funeral services.
