Richard Lagonegro

Elmira: in his 90th year, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013. Rich was born in Elmira July 21, 1923, a son of Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) and Alfred Lagonegro. He is predeceased by his wife Betty (Cloke) Lagonegro, sisters, Marie Tangorre and Irene Tangorre, son-in-law David Cassada. Rich is survived by his children, and their spouses, Ginny and Lou Andrus, Horseheads, Patty Cassada, Alpine NY, Diane and Mark Marcus, West Henrietta NY, Clare and Doug Williams, Horseheads, Marilyn and Jim Ripley, Pine City, Larry and Mindy Lagonegro, Elmira, Bev and Mike McDonald, Elmira, Jack and Vicki Lagonegro, Elmira Heights; grandchildren, Terri, Tim, Marc, Tina, Stephanie, Ashley, Mindy, Kellen, Ryhan, Casey, Dylan, Lydia, Stacey, Alicia, Jeremy and Dustin; 21 great-grandchildren; brother Joseph E. Lagonegro, Elmira; long time friend and companion Pat Woodruff, Elmira; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Rich was a graduate of Elmira Catholic High School. He served in the U S Army Air Force 1943-1946. Rich was a retired plumber having worked for Chemung County Buildings and Grounds for many years. A life long parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, Rich was also a daily communicant at Mass. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Rich with a donation to CareFirst, 11751 E Corning Road, Corning NY 14830-3657.
