Peter Conway Sullivan

Age 75, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends, on Monday December 6, 2021 after a fierce fight with lung cancer. Peter was born in Elmira, NY, a son of John and Josephine (McNulty) Sullivan. He is predeceased by his parents, his in-laws August and Emily (Brownell) Spaziani, and his brothers, Paul and Michael Sullivan. Peter is survived by his wife of 28 years, Vicki; his children and their spouses, Jason and Laurie Elston & Kyle and Erica Elston; his 3 adoring grandchildren, Jack, Claire, and Charlie Elston; his siblings and spouses: Mary Jo & Jim Korreck, Mark & Jackie Sullivan, Diane Sullivan, Monica & Pete Dawson, Rosemary Sullivan, Bridget & Don Burris, Julie Allard, Marian & Dan Jurusik, John Sullivan, and David & Nancy Sullivan; his sisters/brothers-in-law, Carol & Mike Edwards, Michael & Donna Spaziani, Linda & Gary Marcoccia, Louis & Linda Spaziani, and August & Debra Spaziani; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Peter was a proud U S Army Vietnam veteran who rose to the level of Sergeant while serving his country. He spent the bulk of his career running the maintenance department for the Elmira Heights School District. Peter was always quick with a joke and always making new friends wherever he went – usually new "girlfriends." In retirement, Peter enjoyed golf and trips to the casino, and he started his favorite role, that of "Poppa." His 3 grandchildren meant the world to him, and he never missed a chance to play bus driver, cheerleader, or babysitter. The family would like to thank Dr. Serge Dauphin and the entire staff at the Falck Cancer Center in Elmira for giving Peter the best care possible. Their concern, care, and kindness will never be forgotten. Friends are welcome to honor Peter at Woodlawn National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. At this time there will be a committal service and military honors. Due to limited parking at the cemetery, those attending are asked to park outside the cemetery on Davis Street.
