Patricia Sweet

Age 103, went to meet her Lord, peacefully, on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Facility. Pat was born and raised in Elmira, the daughter of Cecilia (Keavin) and Edward Widman. She was predeceased by her husband Jerome E. Sweet on July 18, 1981, and brother Edward Widman. Pat is survived by her children, Michael E. (Heather) Sweet of Fredricksburg VA, Joel E. (Mary) Sweet of Pinehurst NC, Bridget Anne (Weeden) Wetmore of Horseheads, and David G. (Barbara) Sweet of Horseheads; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Winnie Widman of Elmira; along with a niece and several nephews. For many years Pat worked at St. Joseph's Hospital where she was a Medical Records Secretary. A devout Roman Catholic, Pat was a life-long communicant of St. Mary's Church. In her younger years she loved playing the organ at St. Mary's Church for Sunday Masses. Pat enjoyed the 18 years she resided at Woodbrook, where her life was enriched and she met many new friends. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Pat's family extends a sincere thank you to the staff at Woodbrook and the 5th floor staff at St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Facility, for the wonderful care provided to Pat.
