Norma Oman

Age 85, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Norma was born in Marietta OH, a daughter of Ray McDougal and Malissa "Sue" McDougal Michael. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by stepfather Gilbert Michael; infant son Donald Oman; daughters, Deborah Prock and Morna Oman; great granddaughter Anna Marie; brothers, George and Jack McDougal. Norma is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Daniel Phillips of Pine City with children, James (Diana) Reese, Curesity (Brent) Voorhees and Che (Jason) Paulman; Audrey and Raul Ledesma of California with daughter Michelle (Brian) Laird; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Georgann Oman of Horseheads with daughters, Heather (Jerry) Hufford and Melanie (John) Shaban; Timothy Oman of Lowman with Terri Dann and sons, Justin and Tommy Oman; Deborah's children, Darla (Tim) DiLeo and Danny (Tina) Gombotz and Morna's daughter Krystal Oman, with Christopher Hess; great grandchildren, Taylor, Logan, Jennifer, Nickolas, Isabella, Cameron, Noah, Shane, Olivia and Jacob; great great granddaughter Audrieanna; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Ray Gleason of Dundee NY; special friend Paul Jones; several nieces and nephews. Norma was devoted to her children and was selfless in giving time to Deborah and Morna during their time of need. She loved reading with her favorite authors being James Oliver Curwood, Louis L'Amour and Zane Gray. She was an excellent cook, loved dancing, gardening, hunting and travel. She was devoted to many charities including Wounded Warriors, Children's Miracle Network, Kid's Wish Network and St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Norma was a member of the Elmira Heights American Legion Auxiliary. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Those wishing may make donations in Norma's memory to a charity of their choice.
