Elmira: Age 74 passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Nick was born November 20, 1940 a son of Reah J. (Eames) and Anthony G. Colunio. He is predeceased by his wife of 52 years Rosalie Saginario Colunio. Nick is survived by his children, Nancy (Donald) Miller of Elmira, Barbara (Gina Unwin) Colunio of Elmira, Nicki (David) Tadder of Horseheads; grandchildren, Nicholas (Danielle) Mastrantonio, Carson Tadder; great-granddaughter Myla Rose Mastrantonio; sister Trina Wrigley, with Thomas Ferris, of Elmira; brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Colunio of Elmira, Charles and Carolyn Colunio of Montour Falls, James Colunio and John Colunio, both of Elmira; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Theresa and Robert Bower of Horseheads; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Fran Rainey of Elmira Heights and Frank Baker of Elmira. Nick was very athletic in his younger years and was an avid body builder. Even after being diagnosed, in his early 30's, with Muscular Dystrophy he stayed as active as he could. An outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Nick and Rosalie owned and operated The Boar's Nest Tavern on Elmira's Southside for 25 years. A loving husband, father, and grandfather Nick will be forever loved and missed. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
