Nancy Elaine Schrage

Age 72, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, April 17, 2023. Nancy was raised in Addison NY, a daughter of the late William and Doris (Heidrich) Stevens. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by sister Barbara Hurd, nephew Paul Hurd, brother-in-law Thomas Schrage and son-in-law Aaron Jardina.

Nancy is survived by her husband Michael S. Schrage of Elmira; children, with their families, Jason and Kelly Schrage of Big Flats with sons, Andrew and Zachary…Jennifer Jardina of Saegertown PA with children, Brady and Haley…Stephanie Schrage of Wellsburg NY with husband David Bertelsen …William Schrage of Big Flats with Heather Forenz with their son Orion…sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Richard Telech of Florida, Sandra and Robert Malnoske of Horseheads; sister-in-law Barbara Schrage of Webster NY; brother-in-law Richard Hurd of Addison NY; good friends, Mary and Max Tournour of Big Flats, Jan Canfield of Watkins Glen; along with several nieces and nephews.

Nancy graduated from Addison High School in 1969, continuing her education at Arnot Ogden School of Nursing from where she graduated in 1972. She worked at the Arnot for a short time after her graduation before moving out of the area with her husband Michael. Upon moving back to Elmira with her family, she returned to the Arnot in 1978, working until her retirement in January 2013. Her entire career was working nights in the OB-GYN. Nancy enjoyed crafts and fishing. Trips to Canada, as a child, introduced her to fishing. An avid NY Yankee fan, her favorite player is Aaron Judge. She was an animal lover, always having a dog or cat, sometimes both. Nancy loved spending time on any lake and Christmas was her favorite holiday. Nancy took great pride in her grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will then take place at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
