Elmira: Age 61, passed away, unexpectedly, on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Mike was born in the Bronx. Mike is survived by his “mommy” Benedicta Collazo, brother Samuel Montalvo; ex-wife Maria Casteneda; adult children, Miguel Collazo, Angel Collazo, Margie Collazo and Janelly Rios. He is also survived by his wife Shelly Collazo, and with their marriage, he shared eight step-children with her. Mike had a special bond with his step-daughter Nataya, whom he lovingly called “Jones”. Mike is also survived by many grandchildren, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Also surviving is (in his own words) his favorite sister-in-law Georgia.
Mike was a forklift driver with Elmira Heat Treating. He loved playing dominos and playing euchre with his father-in-law. Mike loved listening to music and constantly had it playing. He was also a jokester – making people laugh was his specialty. Mike loved watching sports on tv and if you were watching with him, you could forget about saying a word because you couldn’t hear anyway! Mike was livid and loud, especially when he was watching the NY Yankees. He enjoyed talking on the phone with his mommy and children. Mike always spoke lovingly about his family. Mike was truly loved and will be missed by so many.
