Max Edward Tournour Jr.

Age 86, passed away at home on Monday, August 4, 2025, with his family by his bedside.  Max was born and raised in Elmira.  He was a son of the late Max E. Sr. and Rose M. Manocchio Tournour.  Max was predeceased by his brother Joseph Tournour.   He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Mary Pace Tournour; daughter and son-in-law, Noelle and Joseph Gross of Big Flats NY with their daughters Jordyn and Erin Gross; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Carrie Tournour of Horseheads NY with their daughters Riley and Lauren Tournour; brother-in-law, Albert Pace of Swansboro NC; niece Allison Pace, with husband Jon Southard, of Durham NC; nephew, Matthew Tournour of Denver CO, with wife Peggy and daughter Alexis.

Born and raised in Elmira, he was a 1957 graduate of Elmira Free Academy and a graduate of Alfred Tech.  Max had a long career as a kitchen and bath designer, first with Robinson Lumber and then with Corning Building Company from where he retired.  He was an avid reader and had a great love for music, with Jazz being his preferred genre.  Most importantly for Max, was being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 224 Franklin St., Elmira, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.   Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Corning NY at a later date.
