Matthew M. Carpenter-Miller Age 30, passed away very unexpectedly on Friday, March 27, 2015 in Erin as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Matt was born in Elmira on April 10, 1984, a son of Richard M. Miller and Jackie Carpenter Miller. In addition to his parents he is survived by his fiancée Melissa C. Hernandez and their 4 year old son Matthias A. Carpenter; brother Jason A. Carpenter of Corning with Bambi Ragusa and their sons Trevor and Devan; grandmother Eloise M. Carpenter of Elmira; aunts and uncles, Deanna Faunce and daughters, Chi, Mindy and Shawna; Linda Tillottson and daughters; Barbara (Charles) Myers and children, Charles, Mike and Jolene; Carol (Eugene) VanOrden and children, Augustus, Terri, David, Laurie and Thomas; Sharon (Richard) Woodruff and children, Rick, Nick and Vicki; Fred (Chris) Miller and children, Scott and Jennifer; Charles Miller and sons, Charles, Justin and Fred; mother-in-law Madeline E. McMurray; sister-in-law Jennifer McMurray; close friends, Jeremy Lagonegro and family, David Stewart and family, David Belmonte and family, Ed Wright and family, Tony Marlow and family, Jeff Canfield and family, Jake Briggs and family; his Vergason family; his Old Country Buffet family; many other friends to numerous to mention. Matt was very close to his cousins and will be greatly missed by them all and their children. He had a love for his pets and leaves behind dogs, Mia and Ozzy and cats, Chloe and Kiki. Matt was predeceased by grandparents, Gilberta Miller, Fred Jacob Miller and Robert Carpenter; great grandparents, Ernest and Shirley Marsh; father-in-law, William McMurray and dog Cricket. He had worked at Old Country Buffet for several years and has been employed by Vergason Technologies for the last five years. Matt was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed riding ATV's, fishing and hunting. Matt especially enjoyed bow hunting. He loved music and was a former drum player. Matt was a big sports fan and was an avid New York Yankee and Dallas Cowboys supporter. He liked to play cards and was a vicious competitor. Matt's greatest joy was time spent with Matthias. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, on Friday, April 3, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7:15 p.m. Donations in Matt's memory may be directed to the Chemung County SPCA, Route 352, Elmira NY 14903.
