Mary Margaret Ogershok of Elmira, NY passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the age of 100 at Absolut Care-Three Rivers with family and friends by her side. She was born in Elmira on October 29, 1925, the daughter of the late Anthony and Angelina (Louise) Bevilacqua. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Paul Ogershok; sister and brother-in-law, Grace and William Bennett; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Lucille Bevilacqua, Pete and Lucille Bevilacqua; brothers-in-law, Charles “Chuck” King, Michael Carozza, and Don Mann and her special niece, Susan Carozza Somers.
She is survived by her sisters, Anna Mann of Sarasota, FL, Betty King and Susie Carozza of Elmira; several nieces, nephews, and 3 other generations of nieces and nephews.
Mary had no children but was a mother to all. She always enjoyed a phone call or a card from her nieces and nephews, especially on Mother’s Day.
Mary and Paul were lifelong residents of Elmira. She retired after several years from Remington Rand. They enjoyed spending winters in Florida and weekends at Wanita Lake. Mary was a faithful and devout Catholic. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church from the first Mass there to the last Mass. Mary will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Special thanks from the family to Andy and Cheyenne and the care they gave her at Three Rivers, also to Dr. Brian Cassetta and his wife Christina.
Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St. Elmira on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 4-6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Pl. Elmira on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 9:30am. A live stream of the Mass will be available at Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish Livestream, click the "Live" tab and then on Mary's name. Committal prayers and Interment will take place at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery.
