Mary Maio

Elmira: Age 96, passed away at the Chemung County Nursing Facility on Saturday, August 30, 2014. Mary was born on February 10, 1918, a daughter of Thomas and Maryanna (Carrescia) Caroscio. She is predeceased by her husband Anthony Maio, son, Joseph Maio, sister and brother- in-law, Lena and John Cherkis, brothers and sister-in-law, William Caroscio, Victor and Mary (Lochern) Caroscio. Mary is survived by her grandchildren, Anthony Maio, Joseph Maio, John Maio, with fiancée Heather Dean; great grandchildren, Evalynn and Roman; daughter-in-law, Terry (Mirando) Maio, sister, Dorene Novick; sisters-in-law, Edith Caroscio, all of Elmira, and Katherine Ellison of Corning; along with several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Mary belonged to the Sacred Heart Ladies Society and was a long time communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Family and friends are invited to Mary's Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday September 3, 2014 at Ss. Peter & Paul Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Mary's family would like to thank her caregivers, especially Becky Hoffman, and the staff of the Chemung Nursing Facility for the care Mary received.
