Mary Layton

Elmira: passed away peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Facility on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, surrounded by close friends and family. Mary was born on December 9, 1920, in Elmira, the loving daughter of Michael and Harriet Wipfler. She is predeceased by her loving husband Philip "Skip" Layton, brothers, John (Gretchen) Wipfler, William (Dorcas) Wipfler, sister Jane (Bob) Longwell. She is survived by her nieces, Julie Bohland, Joan Schmitz, Judy Longwell, Mary Jane Carroll, Sharie Jones; nephews, Jack, Bill, Bob, David Wipfler; sister-in-law Eleanor Wipfler; close friends, Marilyn (Harry) Edwards, Connie and Gail Sweeney. Mary worked for many years at Sayles and Evans law firm. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mary had a long wonderful life filled with laughter and music. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
