Mary Doland

"Argie" Age 86 of Elmira, passed away peacefully at home, with her loving family at her bedside, on Friday, May 22, 2015. Mary was born in Elmira on October 3, 1928, a daughter of Alfred and Rose (Pinelli) Cafolla. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband Frank W. "Ace" Doland; stepson Michael J. Tobin; brothers, Joseph, Alfred, Jr., and Eugene Cafolla; sisters, Grace Cafolla and Antoinette Glynn. Mary is survived her children, Sam Doland and wife Margie, James Doland, Rose Doland, Carol Doland with Dave Sandore, Thomas Doland and wife Carol, John Doland, Mary Doland, Kathy Davis and husband Dale, Janet Poppleton all of Elmira; grandchildren, Daniel (Diane), David (Lisa) and Kristen Doland, Lisa (Donald) Brant, Thomas, Jr. (Brenda), Robert (Jenn) and Tara (Ken Bailey) Doland, Jamie Spano, Julie Fielding, Alan Jr., Amanda and Brian Poppleton; sisters, Albina Rullo of Elmira and Carmella Dumais of Michigan; sister-in-law Marbury Cafolla of Horseheads; loving canine companion Maggie; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mary was a waitress at Curley's Chicken House for 50 years and worked into her 80's. She was known for her kindness and generosity. Mary was a great cook and baker and was known to feed half of Elmira. Everyone who came into her home never left hungry. She was always there to support her children and grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St. Elmira, on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Elmira. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery.
