Mary Dial

January 3, 1933 — January 7, 2018

Age 85, passed away peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Facility on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Lifelong resident of Elmira, Mary was born the daughter of Edward J. and Edna (Mooney) Hurley. Marrying Robert (Bob) L. Dial in 1961, the couple raised 6 children, and Mary devoted her life to raising her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Dial; daughter Michelle R. Dial; brothers, Francis, Robert, Leon, William, John, and Richard Hurley. Mary is survived by five children and their families; Edna and Gregg Moyer of Pine City, NY with children Jenni, Justin and Jarred; Robert M. Dial of Elmira Heights; Annie and Bob Small of Kernersville, NC with children Erin, Eric and Amber; David Dial with Jason Farley of Baltimore, MD; Kelly and Mitch Greene of Raleigh, NC; great grandchildren, Jadin and Molly; sisters, Dorothy Noterfonzo, Betty Hurley, Jean (George) Lowman and Evelyn (Phillip) Foster; several nieces and nephews. As a compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and close friends. She also particularly enjoyed a good game of BINGO, listening to family karaoke, and conversations with loved ones. Because she dedicated her life to her children, the impact she leaves is more than deeds, it is the collective experiences of her family as they have journeyed through life. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the second-floor staff at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. It was obvious you loved her and we thank you for your care and devotion. At Mary's request, funeral services will be private.
