Martin Mccarthy

Age 84 of Chemung, passed away peacefully at the Robert Packer Hospital on Thursday, September 01, 2016. Marty was born in Elmira, a son of Thomas J. and Jennie Newell McCarthy. He was predeceased by his wife Loretta Sheehe McCarthy. Marty is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth A. McCarthy with Steven Crum of Horseheads with their children, Aidan, Teagan and Mallory Crum; sister Rose E. McCarthy of Elmira; brother Robert N. McCarthy; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Epiphany Catholic Church, 304 South Elmer St., Sayre PA, at 9:30 a.m. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Elmira. Marty was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was retired from the Elmira Water Board with over 30 years of service. He was a train enthusiast and even had a track and engine in his yard. Marty enjoyed the outdoors and trips to the Adirondack Mountains.
