Mark J. Laux

Elmira: Age 73, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre PA. Mark was born and raised in Elmira, a son of the late Daniel R., Sr. and Margaret (Reidy) Laux. He is survived by his children, John D. Laux of Elmira, Kathleen Laux of Palmyra NJ with husband George Zilahi and their daughter Annabel Zilahi, Ryan Laux of Elmira with wife Amanda; brothers and sister-in-law, Daniel R., Jr. and Maria Laux of Ithaca, R. Brian Laux of Hollywood FL; sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret George of Charlotte NC, Mary Elizabeth and Bryce Spankroy of Valencia CA; former wife, and dear friend, Eileen Laux of Big Flats; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mark was a 1967 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He went on to, and graduated from, Columbia College School of Film and Television in Chicago. A lifelong Elmiran, Mark dedicated nearly 50 years to his career in real estate. He was an avid collector of a variety of memorabilia, and a devoted New York Yankee fan. Mark had a great personality and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a very loyal friend to many people. A devoted father and grandfather, family always came first. Mark had a favorite catch phrase….”Smile and the world smiles with you, frown and you frown alone.”

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment, with committal prayers, will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
