A loss so great that it shakes you to your core. It pains us to announce the passing of Mark James Hillman at the age of 65 on September 2, 2017. Mark was born in Elmira a son of Shirley D'Onofrio Hillman and the late Carl H. Hillman. In addition to his father Mark was predeceased by his sister Carol Hillman. Mark is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara Leisenring Hillman; his children and their spouses, Colleen and Dan Riordon of Forrest Hill, MD, Jason and Cookie Hillman of Cicero, NY, Christopher and Laura Hillman of Baldwinsville, NY, Samantha Hillman of Baldwinsville, NY, and Kevin and Amanda Hillman of Elmira; 10 grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses, Diane and Ken Houser of Elmira, Linda and Gary Tyra of Pittsburgh, PA, Sharon and Daniel Lodico, Carl "Butch" and Tina Hillman, Nancy and David Sullivan, Matthew Hillman, all of Elmira, Michael Hillman of Pittsburg, PA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless family friends. Mark was a graduate of EFA. He was a retired New York State Corrections Officer and, in addition, he was an accomplished contractor. Mark was always going above and beyond helping others and working tirelessly for his family. He especially loved his grandchildren; spending time with them was his greatest joy. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those wishing may remember Shorty Dawg with a donation to a charity of ones choosing.
