Marion Palmieri

May 28, 1934 — April 23, 2014

Elmira: Age 79, passed away peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Facility on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Marion was born in Astoria, Long Island on May 28, 1934 a daughter of the late Oren and Margaret (Webster) Hill. She was predeceased by husband Dominic J. Palmieri, Sr., brothers, John and Hank, sisters, Margaret and Martha, sons, Nicholas Palmieri and Dominic Palmieri, Jr., daughter Mary Louise Palmieri Mowry, granddaughter Theresa Mowry. Marion is survived by her brother Stan Hill of Alaska; sister Mary Jane Mott of Florida; son-in-law Richard Mowry, Sr. of Elmira; sister-in-law Theresa Fargo of Elmira; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Marion worked at Hills Department Store for many years. She later worked in the cafeteria at Riverside Elementary School. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Committal prayers and interment will take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Donations in Marion's memory may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1140 Avenue of the Americas, New York NY 10036. Marion's family extends a special thank you to the 6th floor nursing staff at the CCNF for the wonderful care provided Marion.
