Marilyn Thompson

Age 90, formerly of W. Center St. Elmira, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Marilyn was the daughter of Francis E. and Martha (Witucki) Thompson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel T. and Linda Backer of Palm Harbor FL: 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren all of Tampa FL; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Patricia Thompson of Elmira; 3 nieces, 1 nephew and several cousins. There will be no prior calling hours. A funeral service will be held at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Marilyn was last employed by Chemung Canal Trust Company from where she retired. The Backer and Thompson families would like to extend a special thanks to the 5th floor staff at the Chemung County Nursing Facility for the excellent care given to Marilyn over the last 2 ½ years.
