Marie Louise Powers

Elmira: Age 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Marie was born in Williamsport PA, the daughter of Martin J. and Katherine (Troy) Powers.

She is survived by many cousins and loving friends.

Marie was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Nazareth College and Boston University where she obtained her Masters Degree. She was the Director of Nursing at Corning Community College for nearly 30 years prior to her retirement. Before going to CCC Marie’s career took her to teaching positions in Canada, New York City, Rochester and some time at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and at Arnot Ogden Hospital.

Marie was a long-time communicant of St. Mary's Church, where she was a member of the choir. She was also a long-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Msgr. John J. Lee Division.  

Marie spent her life caring for people and also teaching others to properly care for patients and their families with loving care.

Family and friends are invited to Marie’s Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2025, at St. Mary’s Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
