Margaret Ann Pease, known as Peggy to her friends, age 70, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Peggy was born on February 16, 1955, in Troy, Pennsylvania, to Shirley Jean Burt Pease and Willard J. Pease. Peggy attended Pine City Elementary and Broadway Junior High, later graduating in the Class of 1973 from Southside High School, where she was a dedicated member of the Southside Concert Choir under the direction of Kimber Billow. Committed to serving her country, Peggy enlisted in the US Air Force in 1975 and rose to Staff Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge. She earned her Associate in Applied Sciences Nursing Degree at Corning Community College. Peggy's career took her to Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital’s Level 3 NICU. In January 1985, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital/Children’s Healthcare in the combined neonatal and pediatric ICU as Assistant Head Nurse. Peggy transferred to the pediatric ER full time and also worked part time with Dr. Mark Stovroff, a pediatric surgeon, as First Assist until 2010.

During this time Peggy began a graduate degree program at Emory University earning a Master of Science in Nursing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Peggy moved to Americus, GA, to work with Dr. Nelson Madrazo at Sumter Pediatrics. In 2016, she returned to Elmira, NY, to care for her mother, and later relocated in September 2019 to Ithaca, NY, where she served as Director of Pediatric Urgent Care at Cayuga Medical Center. Peggy’s life was defined by her unwavering dedication to pediatric care, her compassion for patients, and her love for friends and her beloved pets. In October 2022, Peggy retired to Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Shirley and Willard Pease, maternal grandparents Louise and George Burt, paternal grandparents Willard C. and Marjorie Pease, sister Linda Sue Seymour, brother Willard G. Pease and nephew Joseph Seymour. Peggy is survived by her beloved niece Amy Davis and her children, Nick and Aleck Davis; nephew Andrew Seymour; great-nephew Patrick Seymour; Peggy’s 3 month younger first cousin Bonnie Mathers, who is more like her sister; partner Marilyn Patterson; the Pine City Elementary group; many beloved friends (chosen family) both in Elmira and Fernandina Beach.

Services for Peggy will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W Water Street, Elmira. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Committal prayers, with military honors, will then take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
