Age 87, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. Bud was born in Albion NY on August 28, 1926, a son of Mahlon and Gertrude (Prussia) Bennett. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Bud is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Mary and David Wintersteen, Lockport NY; 2 nieces, 5 nephews, several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by longtime friends, Bill and Hazelle Kinney, Elmira and their children Adam and Alexis who were Bud's two charges. During WW II Bud served with the US Coast Guard/Merchant Marines. From 1948 to 1973 he worked as a chef for various colleges including, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Buffalo, and Elmira College. From 1973 to 1988 Bud was a chef at Horigan's/Sheehan's Restaurant in Elmira. Family and friends are invited to a cemetery service, with military honors, on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Woodlawn National Cemetery.
