Luke Shields Nugent

Luke Shields Nugent, age 26, passed away on Friday July 26, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love. Luke was born and raised in Elmira NY. Shy and quiet as a child, he was known by so many as the sweetest, gentlest person in the world. He grew into a cool, confident and genuine man always there for those in his life. He was vibrant and soft spoken, with a quick wit that could brighten anyone’s day. Luke loved to fish, hike, make music, travel, eat sour candy, and so much more. He loved to show his friends his true self and always showed up. Luke took pride in his accomplishments, his work, his BMW, his home and his ability to come through no matter the circumstances. Luke never gave up and always had a positive outlook on the world, never letting anything dim his spirit. He loved to have fun and was always “down” for anything.

Most recently Luke lived in West Palm Beach & Jupiter Florida where he made many great friends. He worked as a server at Castaways, All Sports Grill, and Trump National. He loved to spend time at the beach, fish anytime he could, and enjoy the warm Florida sun.

Luke is survived by his loving parents, Bridget and Neil Nugent, older brother Joey, younger sister Ellie, and his beloved cat Gram as well as so many amazing friends and family. Luke is predeceased by his grandparents and his best friend Jamay Wellington.

Luke will be celebrated on Monday August 5, 2024, at Hill Top Inn, 171 Jerusalem Hill Road, Elmira. His family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a service and reception immediately following to share stories and remember his life.
