Elmira: Age 80, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester NY. A life-long resident of Elmira, Lucy went to school at St. Anthony's Grammar School and Notre Dame High School. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church until its closing and was then a member of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish. Lucy was a waitress at Horigan's, Mustico's and at Moretti's where she spent her last twenty-five years. She was a longtime huge bingo player, loved playing cards and enjoying being part of euchre leagues. Lucy was her grandchildren's number one fan, supporting them at all their various sporting events.
Lucy is survived by her husband of 55 years William R. Gill; sons and their families: Thomas J. Gill and Christine Lawas of Horseheads with their children, Matthew Gill, Erin Gill, Zachary Lawas and Lucas Lawas…William P. and Shannon Gill of Ellicott City MD with their son Carter; brother-in-law John Gill of Elmira. She is predeceased by her parents Patrick and Josephine (Cerio) Esposito.
Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira, on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
