Lorraine Grant

Age 93, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Lorraine was born in Clinton, IA a daughter of Emil and Edith (Schumacher) Niebuhr. Her husband William H. Grant predeceased her in 1992. She is also predeceased by her sister, Ruth and brother, Robert. Lorraine is survived by her children, and their families: William Grant of Elmira..David and Nancy Grant of Liverpool NY with children, Jared (Savithri) Grant, Andrew (Carly) Grant, and Julianna (Benjamin ) Ryck..Susan and Michael Woychak of Elmira with children, Allison (Scott) Sevey and Michelle Woychak..Carol and James Nedlik of Vestal NY with children, Lindsey (Joshua) Lewis and Grant Nedlik; great-grandchildren: Meena, Leela, Emmett, Ryleigh, Lauren and Ryan; and two nephews. Lorraine was a volunteer for both the Arnot Ogden Medical Center and Meals on Wheels. She was a long time active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmira. For many years Lorraine had a group of friends who enjoyed jogging together and later in life, walking. In summer months they would meet on Sundays at Harris Hill for a lively game of putt-putt. The best ever gramma, she always enjoyed participating in activities with her grandchildren. She was well known to her Elmira grandchildren's friends, who would call her "grammie". Anyone who visited Lorraine would always be greeted with a warm smile and a variety of fresh baked cookies. Lorraine will be remembered with love and greatly missed by all who knew her. Lorraine's family extends a special thank you to Cathy Allison for the outstanding care she provided to Lorraine over the last two years and to the caring staff at the Arnot Ogden ER and 4D staff. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Skip Reed officiating.
