Lois Patno

West Elmira resident, Age 95, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Lois was born in Elmira, February 9, 1923, a daughter of Melvin and Ida (Brion) Mengee. She is predeceased by her husband Gerald F. Patno; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Mary G. Mengee. Lois is survived by her sister Elaine Converse of Simi Valley CA; step-sons, Edward ( Sheryl) Patno of Pine City and Wayne (Karen Cook) Patno of Pine Valley; step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Ali) Patno of Apex NC, Jon (Cara) Patno of Springfield VA, Andrea (William) Bauman of Horseheads, Dennise (Mike) Zobel of Rochester, Dennis (Stephanie) Webster of North Carolina; several step great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Carol (Doug) Laney of Elmira Heights, Margene (Gregg) Thomas of Newfield NY, Mark (Mary) Converse of CA, Steven (Lori) Converse of CA; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews. Lois attended Grammar School #5 (George Washington), and was a 1941 graduate of EFA. She continued her education at Elmira Business Institute graduating from there in 1943. Lois was employed at Mechanics Savings Bank for many years. She was a life long, active member of North Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and a Deacon, taught Sunday School, and was a volunteer at the church pantry. Lois also volunteered with the Arnot Ogden Medical Center Auxiliary. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 3:15 p.m. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday, September 10, 2018. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Lois with a donation to the North Presbyterian Church, Food Pantry, 921 College Avenue, Elmira NY 14901. Lois’ family extends their sincere appreciation for the care and compassion from the Visiting Angels over the past year.
