Age 86, of Elmira, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Libby was born in Williamsport PA, a daughter of the late Carmen and Ida (Giordano) Miele. She was the last surviving of their five children. Libby is also predeceased by her son-in-law, James Diehl. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert A. Forte; daughters, Jean Goyette of Elmira with husband Alain and their children, Katie (Matthew) Cornacchio, Jonathan (Stacy) Goyette; Marianne Diehl with Jeff Beckwith and her children, Amy (Erik) Rominger, Kevin (Jennifer) Diehl; great-grandchildren, Lily, Ava, and Chloe Cornacchio, Lydia, Maxwell and Alec Rominger, Taylor Diehl, and Amia Goyette; along with several nieces and nephews. Libby was a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She spent the majority of her nursing career as an OB/GYN nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital, retiring after many years of service. For a short period of time during her career she also was an instructor at St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing. Libby was an avid reader, enjoyed her Monday night BINGO outings with Sue and Ann, and always looked forward to her monthly luncheons with her fellow retirees. Libby was a former volunteer with St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Ladies of Charity. A devout Catholic, she was an active communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Elmira. Libby treasured the times with her husband, children and grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to Libby’s Mass of Christian Burial on MONDAY, JULY 23, 2018, 11:00 a.m., St. Mary’s Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Libby with a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
