Leroy Tenny

Horseheads: Age 83, passed away at his home, with his loving family by his side, on Monday, May 2, 2016. LeRoy was born in Elmira, the son of Roy A. and Clara Hopkins Tenny. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Frankie Tenny; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl A. and Denis Sweeney of Corning with their children, Paul and Molly; Barbara L. and Michael Connelly of Horseheads with their sons, Thomas (Samantha Dieffenbach) and Christopher; Lisa M. and Thomas Smith of Horseheads, with children, Tom Matt (Alida) Smith and sons, Zachary and Connor, Tammy (James) Meuleveld and daughters, Meagan and McKenzie; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frederick and Ann Frankie of Nagshead NC, Judith Frankie of Dover Plains NY; and nieces and nephews. LeRoy was predeceased by his brother-in-law Nicholas Frankie. LeRoy was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He retired as a Lieutenant from Southport Correctional Facility with 38 years of service in New York State Corrections. LeRoy was a member of the Elmira Elks Club and the Horseheads American Legion. Over the years, many great family times were spent at Ormond Beach Fl and at the family cottage on Keuka Lake. …..memories made that will last forever. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m., St. Mary Our Mother Church, Horseheads. Military honors will be accorded outside of church after the Mass. Private committal prayers and interment will be in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery. Donations in LeRoy's memory may be directed to any of the following; Notre Dame High School, Holy Family Catholic School, St. Mary Our Mother Church, or St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
